Loading Events

Meet at the parking area at 1067 Mill Hill Road (near the intersection of Mill Hill and Warner School Road), East Greenville, PA. Bring lunch.  Rain cancels.

We will be visiting the seldom visited and little known Mill Hill Preservation Area in Upper Hanover Township which is the highest point in Montgomery County at 971 feet.  We will explore this easily accessible trails thru this climax forest which is one of the healthiest in the county.  The rich understory of shrubs and flowers coupled with a variety of northern hardwoods attracts a wide diversity of migrating songbirds and raptors. Late warblers, vireos, flycatchers, thrushes and other forest-loving birds will be found.  Leaders:  Dennis and Pedro Miranda.

Dress for warm weather but to minimize ticks, wear long pants and sleeves, wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots, bring a water bottle, binoculars and a scope is optional.  Rate of difficulty: Easy, at most, the trail’s distance totals 1-1/2 miles.  For more information, please visit:  http://www.upperhanovertownship.org/millhill.htm.  Neighboring Sites to Visit: Fruitvale Road, Camelot Park & Hosensack Creek riparian lands.

We encourage participants to regularly check both the Wyncote Audubon Society website and Wyncote Facebook Page in advance of a field trip as the meeting location can change due to road construction, a park closure, weather conditions, or other last-minute circumstances. If you have any questions about a field trip, please use the contact form below.

Plan on arriving a few minutes before the scheduled time of the field trip. The time stated is the STARTING time, not the arrival time. This will give you time to get yourself ready, say hello, visit a restroom and be ready to go. For all day trips, please come prepared with lunch and have a full tank of gas.
